Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of teacher creativity in developing singing-based learning media to enhance conceptual understanding among elementary school students. Teacher creativity is considered a critical component in designing engaging, meaningful, and child-centered learning experiences. This research uses a library research method by reviewing relevant books, scientific articles, and empirical studies discussing the impact of singing activities on students’ learning outcomes and motivation. The findings indicate that creative teachers are able to integrate musical elements—such as rhythm, melody, and educational lyrics—into the learning process, making abstract concepts easier for students to grasp. Previous studies show that singing-based learning increases memory retention by 35–40% and strengthens students' emotional engagement, focus, and classroom participation. Additionally, musical activities support social–emotional development by fostering cooperation, empathy, and positive interaction among students. The review also reveals that singing stimulates both hemispheres of the brain, enabling students to process information more holistically and meaningfully. However, the effectiveness of this method depends on the teacher’s ability to design simple, relevant, and pedagogically aligned songs. Overall, the study concludes that teacher creativity is a key determinant in the successful implementation of singing as a learning medium, contributing significantly to students’ conceptual understanding, motivation, and character development. Thus, enhancing teachers’ creative competencies is essential to achieving innovative and effective learning in elementary education.
